Project Linus and the TAPS Program

TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) is the first organization to provide a support network for families facing the loss of a military member. This wonderful program turns compassion into action, and action into help and healing. Project Linus members showing blankets for the TAPS program

TAPS is a wonderful story of courage and commitment. When a tragic event occurs and a service member is lost, the work of TAPS bears quiet testimony that even deep in the pain and tragedy of the loss, members of the military family are ready to step forward to help shoulder a burden and to help the grieving cope and heal. TAPS helps to deliver the triumph of tenderness and kindness over pain, suffering and loss.

Project Linus steps forward every year to help with the Good Grief Camp for the children of our fallen heroes. With our lovely contributions of handmade security blankets for these children, the goals of this camp are reaching out to others,....giving gentle suggestions,...introducing an etiquette for grief,..creating a hero's legacy, welcoming the power of peer support,..listening to "expressing ourselves",..and giving voice to our grief.

The children "survivors" love these blankets and they take them with them as they journey to Arlington on Memorial Day...they spread them out at the grave site...they talk, cry, sing, read a poem...and their PL security blanket is there, helping.
